Building a Better Future for All: NCC’s Establishment of Reforestation Areas

With its 55 years of being a partner in building the nation, Northern Cement Corporation (NCC) searched for innovations and developments in its resources to keep abreast with the trends of the industry and demands of the market, responsible steward of environment and stable partner in social development.

World Class Environmental Sustainability Programs

Amidst the continuous restrictions and challenges brought about by the pandemic, NCC has successfully celebrated its Arbor Day last June 10, 2022 with a theme, “Aksyon para sa Natatanging Mundo.” This is the Reforestation Program, where more than 1550 assorted fruit bearing and hardwood seedlings were planted within 2 hectares land located at Purok 6, Barangay Nama, Pozorrubio.

NCC also joined the entire country’s celebration of Arbor Day on June 25, 2022. We conducted tree planting program and officially launched our conservation initiative by establishing an Arboretum. This is located in Sapid Mini Forest and is estimated at 2 hectares with various endemic and fruit bearing trees such as Palosapis, Lauan, Narra, Cacao, Balimbing, Guyabano and Makopa.

Involvement of the community in environmental programs is one of the company’s innovative activities. This year, the company partnered with Bangol Canit Ibaloi Samahang Tribu Sa Kaunlaran, a Community Based Forest Management Association. They are from Brgy Inmalog, Sison, one of NCC’s neighboring communities. Partnership was sealed with Memorandum of Agreement. Part of the partnership agreement is NCC helps them establish their own nursery, equip them with needed tool and paraphernalia and in return the association sells seedlings to NCC for the company’s greening and reforestation programs. The forged partnership will last until the year 2026 where NCC will purchase 35,000 seedlings and the association and its members will receive approximately Php 1,350,000.00 as income.

NCC’s best practices and services have caused positive impact not only to its operations and personnel, but to its host and neighboring communities and immediate environment. We will slowly continue to build a better future for all.
